It seems unimaginable, but for the first time in recorded history the North Pole may be free of ice this summer, according to a published report Friday.

Images of drowning polar bears are alarming the gullible wherever the liberal-left is found--nevermind that polar bears come off the ice when the ice recedes. Its why you can take a tundra buggy tour in Churchill, Manitoba through the months of October and November.

Its not actually a case of there being no ice in the artic, or that its doomed to melt, but people don't generally delve into the subject past the headlines.

"The issue is that, for the first time that I am aware of, the North Pole is covered with extensive first-year ice — ice that formed last autumn and winter. I'd say it's even-odds whether the North Pole melts out," Dr. Mark Serreze, a senior research scientist at Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo., told The Independent newspaper in London.

Surely though this is unprecedented, right?

Wrong.

The hacks are all dutifully reporting Al Gore latest bit of wailing that we need to transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar power in a mere ten years.

Apparently you can't get oil out of the ground in that time, but you can rebuild the entire power infrastructure of the United States, once again confirming to me that Democrats are total idiots.

Gore is no idiot though--he's just the Jim Jones of global warming.

Amy Ridenour reports that while the Prophet Al was in regaling the reverent news media, his entourage of two Lincoln Town Cars and a Suburban he used to get to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research--one of which was left running to keep the car nice and cool for his Holiness, were parked out in front.

Out of eleven articles published about the event, only one mentioned the cars.

As people filed out of the hall, three black cars waited for Gore and his entourage. A young woman walked up to the first one, a Lincoln Town Car, and stuck a handwritten note on the windshield: "I wish I were a Prius."
