Mitt in Michigan

Mitt Romney is in Michigan on behalf of the McCain campaign, and gets in a good thrust: Detroit Free Press:

In a short speech Monday to several hundred people in Farmington Hills, Romney said McCain is the man to help Michigan's ailing economy.

"The people right here in Michigan who have endured a one-state recession for quite a while now won't elect someone who is charming and can give a good speech. They did it once with Jennifer Granholm and look how that turned out," Romney said of the current governor.

And with former Sen. Phil Gramm biting the dust in his recent impolitic remarks on the economy, Romney

looks better and better as a choice for McCain's VP, given his assurance and experience on the subject. Carly Fiorina is a long shot, but her stock has probably also risen, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota is also strongly in the running. Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford stumbled recently in a CNN interview. Seth Gitell, NY Post on Romney's Rationale:

The answer to many of Mr. McCain's problems is looming in plain, uncomfortable sight: He needs a running mate who can immediately infuse the campaign with energy, a fluid surrogate who can hammer away at Mr. Obama, stay focused, not lose his cool, and, most of all, an economic expert, who can negate, if not reverse, the Democrat's perceived advantage in the areas of jobs and growth. The man who possesses those qualities is the same person who got under Mr. McCain's skin during the primary fight — Mitt Romney.
Here's a vote for Mr. Fix-it for Veep.

Carly Fiorina was rightly fired as CEO of HP, so to put her in line for CEO of the USA would make little sense.

Has anyone reviewed the disaster Carly Fiorina was at HP ?
A veep candidate? No way!
