Failed presidential candidates contemplating the wreck their lives have become -->
One of the most egregious developments in political discourse has been the non-apology apology. It the one where its your fault for being offended by something someone else says.
On Monday, Barack Obama, the "uniter, not divider", informed his adoring audiences that 3,000 lives have been wasted in Iraq in what he has previously characterized as a dumb war.
Obama can't apologize for something he actually believes and that helps him politically with his anti-American, anti-freedom and anti-war constituencies, so he's just sorry you and I are offended that he trivializes the sacrifices of our troops.
Its rather ironic, considering Obama's lofty rhetoric about uniting the country to create a new kind of politics. Don't you just feel the love?
To be frank, I have been listening to Obama--giving him a chance to impress me. A new voice deserves a listen. I dismissed some of his comments during the election as the price he pays for being in the Democrat party, but he took his first hit during his presidential announcement. For a self-described uniter, he was using some pretty egregiously divisive arguments.
Now this.
I think that Obama just derailed his presidential candidacy. You simply can't disrespect the troops and their supporters in this country and have it slide.
Jules Crittenden notes the media's reporting of an apology that never was.

Tom Roeser Bye-bye Obama
Ann Althouse Damn she's good.
Nowadays, every politician will be defeated by exactly one word. Kerry got "stuck." Biden had "clean." Obama gets "wasted."
Chris Bowers is apoplectic.
In the midst of Obama's remarkable run, what can we expect? Apologies, of course (emphasis mine):Senator Barack Obama, D-Ill., entered the race for the White House over the weekend and is immediately feeling the hot spotlight of scrutiny that accompanies a presidential campaign.Obama has twice apologized since implying that U.S. troops had died in vain, telling a rally crowd in Ames, Iowa, on Sunday, "We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized, and should never been waged, and on which we have now spent $400 billion, and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted."
Great! Yes! More apologies! It appears that there is nothing that Democrats and progressives can do, no matter how amazing, without being forced to issue a constant stream of apologies and resignations whenever the right-wing demands them. Say one word wrong, and nothing else matters--that one word is a national news story. And, of course, the attacks continue even after the apologies / resignations / scalps are taken:
Joe Tobacco endows Bower's comments with a little context.
Yes…after all, the netroots never attack anyone for inappropriate language, and continue to attack post apology. What was that word I’m looking for?
Oh yes. Macaca
Once more, the left reveals its child-like concept of fairness--whatever is good for me is fair. Those who live by Macaca politics, die by Macaca politics.
