Melissa McEwan "Resigns" From Edwards Campaign

Fox News is reporting that Melissa McEwan has followed Amanda Marcotte back into the dark bowels of the sinstrosphere.

"This was a decision I made, with the campaign's reluctant support, because my remaining the focus of sustained ideological attacks was inevitably making me a liability to the campaign," she said Tuesday night.

The silliness of these two girls is simply amazing. Their offensive and intensive derogatory condemnations of Christians are merely "free speech", but complaints about it are attacks. My perception of the left as emotionally and intellectually dysfunctional gets not relief.

McEwan hints ominously about threats she's receiving.

There will be some who clamor to claim victory for my resignation, but I caution them that in doing so, they are tacitly accepting responsibility for those who have deluged my blog and my inbox with vitriol and veiled threats. It is not right-wing bloggers, nor people like Bill Donohue or Bill O'Reilly, who prompted nor deserve credit for my resignation, no matter how much they want it, but individuals who used public criticisms of me as an excuse to unleash frightening ugliness, the likes of which anyone with a modicum of respect for responsible discourse would denounce without hesitation.

Amanda Marcotte actually publishes some of this frightening ugliness.

I pray that I had some small part to play in your “resigning” from the Edwards campaign you libelous fraud!
Catholics are concerned about killing unborn children, you stupid bitch. Chop away if it suits you, but we don’t have to accept that as moral. That’s why it’s called a religion. Look into it.
Amanda, after reading your vile screed against Catholics and the Holy Spirit, I just had to see what you looked like. (I envisioned you eyebrow-less, with no visible pupils, and a blank, dead stare.) I see I was correct about the blank, dead stare, but other than that you’re not too bad. I then thought maybe you were mad at God (and by proxy Catholics) for making you ugly, but now I’m figuring you’re just mad at him for making you a woman.

There are some other comments I won't reprint here, because they have that moonbat quality--you know, lots of effing this, effing that and suggestions for new sexual positions. Even then, there are no implied threats. I imagine Marcotte excerpted the worst of the bunch. Perhaps she should compare notes with Michelle Malkin, a woman somewhat less thin-skinned that her progressive opposites.

The Huffpo is incensed.

The ramifications of Bill Donohue and the Catholic League's reckless rhetoric has materialized in the form of death threats to bloggers Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan. This is what happens when the ultra-right wing is given the megaphone of mainstream media. It is also a complete break down in the responsibility that the media has in vetting those who are given a platform to spread a message.

The people are clowns, fascist clowns though.

Bill Donohue must immediately rescind his hateful comments against these two young women and call on the hate-mongers, which he is responsible for inciting, to cease their threats against Amanda, Melissa, and their families. Call him at 212-371-3191 and demand this.

Talk about threats. Can you imagine getting dozens of phone calls by irate and abusive moonbats? How did they get my number? Do they know where I live? How do I protect my family?

Bill Donohue should arm himself.

Confederate Yankee

I don't think I've read enough of her blog to know much about McEwan, but I can say this: she exhibited more class and dignity than Marcotte, even as I find it somewhat ironic that someone who calls my fellow Christians "christofascists" accuses others of unleashing "frightening ugliness, the likes of which anyone with a modicum of respect for responsible discourse would denounce without hesitation."

They did denounce the frightening ugliness, Melissa. You should know.

You wrote much of it yourself.
