Democrats promised a five day work week for Congress--but not right away.
Hill sources claim The House is taking Monday 'off' this week, because of the championship football game between Ohio State and the University of Florida.
Not next week either--Martin Luther King day.
Excuses for subsequent weeks are in progress...

You made the comment below over at TPM the other day. You're an idiot. More Congressional Democrats voted AGAINST going to Iraq than voted for it. You're such a typical wingnut. Stupid, dishonest and misinformed. Do some homework, dumbass!
YOUR IGNORANT COMMENT;
"Democrats voted overwhelmingly to go to war and then again to fund the war. They've been backtracking for years saying that they were "deceived". So do you think they were actually deceived or do you think they are gutless wonders trying to avoid accountability.
Now why wouldn't a slime-ball like Lott want to play the same game?

Its amazing what geniuses you meet over at the lefty sites.
22 Democrat senators voted against JR 114. 126 Democrat House members voted against it.
More interesting though is the record of all Iraq war related votes. Very often there is one or two no votes on supplemental funding legislation, and then yea votes in subsequent years--a pattern of ass-covering.
How many House members consistently voted against the war?
Eight.
Looks overwhelming to me.
The Senate has had 4 unanimous votes on various Iraq-related bills and two voice votes (again, to cover asses...)

"Democrats voted overwhelmingly to go to war"
Those are your words genius. Like I said, MORE Democrats voted against it which makes your statement not even close to factual.

Turns out that the day off was at the request of the Republicans.
Any chance for an update correcting this post?

I've found nothing to suggest that the day off was at the request of the Republicans, although clearly Republicans were keen to watch the (terrific) game.
It doesn't really matter though--Hoyer is the boss and his party promised a better Congressional work ethic. As it turns out, Hoyer wasn't all that serious about it.
This is called a "commitment" in the Democrat party.
