Powerline links to a Jerusalem Post article claiming that Democrat officials met with Hamas leaders at a secret location. Following the link though, no reference to such a meeting appears. Did the JP do a quick edit to correct a mistake or excise an embarrassing confrontation with our new Overlords?
Ynet however, has a similar story.
The Palestinian news agency Maan, quoting a senior member of the Palestinian government, reported Wednesday that "ministers of the Hamas-led government recently held talks with European countries and with a delegation of the American Democratic Party.
Considering that its a Palestinian source, this may simply be--what's the word--oh yeah, a lie. The gist of the press release was the Europeans (and presumably Democrats), have accepted Hamas stance towards Israel.
That seems unlikely in the extreme. While left-wing anti-semitism is a given, the Democrat party itself is highly dependent on Jewish money, not to mention the number of high-ranking Jews in its leadership. I just can't see the party throwing over Israel like this.
The Europeans?
I sincerely doubt that as well. While most European nations are clearly pro-Palestinian, its highly problematic accepting Hamas stance for a whole whack of reasons.
