Excuse the provocative title, but there is nevertheless truth to that assertion. Arthur C. Brooks, a professor of public administration at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, has written "Who Really Cares: The surprising truth about compassionate conservativism"
From a review:
...Conservatives really are compassionate-far more compassionate than their liberal foes. Strong families, church attendance, earned income (as opposed to state-subsidized income), and the belief that individuals, not government, offer the best solution to social ills-all of these factors determine how likely one is to give.
I don't find that surprising at all. So-called liberal ideology ("so-called", because there is very little that is classically liberal about it...) screams "me, me, me". As the recent dichotomy between U2's public statements and private financial arrangements reveal, liberals are extremely generous ...with other people's money.

You really should give a hat tip to other bloggers when they lead you to an interesting topic to post on...especially if your post doesn't contribute anything new to the topic. This post is very similar to Glenn Reynold's post on the same topic from over the weekend. All you've added is a little more self-righteous "conservative" bluster.

You do indignation very well, but let me clue you in on some of the realities of blogging.
Book publishers routinely send emails to scores of blogs announcing their offerings. A great many of them ask whether they can send you books--for free. Its not surprising that the Instapundit had a post on it. David Frum mentioned it in his column for the National Post (Canada). Technorati counts 363 blog posts that mention it. Only "Blogs of War" credited Instapundit with a hat tip.
Frankly, I have no problem crediting someone for pointing out an obscure article or press report, outbound links are good business for any blog. It just doesn't happen that often that a blog will point out something obscure and merit a hat-tip.
Blogger source material varies according to the tastes of the blogger. I personally reference between 10-30 sites a day, skimming for material, about two of those are blogs--Slashdot and the Mudville Gazette (which usually points me to some of the other milbloggers).
This isn't to say that I don't read other bloggers--I do, but very few on a regular basis. I read Macsmind and Varifrank on a regular basis, but the rest is infrequent--usually just a stroll down my blogroll to see who has a current post up.
While I like Glenn and Helen's podcasts, Instapundit leaves me a little cold. Reynolds is so damn neutral on everything.

Fair enough I rescind my "indignation". The posts just seemed strikingly similar.
