My wife called me today during her lunch break to ask me who she can call or write to complain about gas prices.
Complain about gas prices? Isn't she a couple of months late?
Not really. While gas is average 2.50 in the nation, Utah's are still paying 2.87 a gallon of regular unleaded--at Costco--generally the lowest price for gas in town.
Prices are only higher in Idaho. California and New York, typically among the highest gas prices in the country, have lower prices than Utah--this in spite of a wealth of refining capacity right in our back yard.
Governor Jon Huntsman knows a political grenade when he sees one, and jumped on the disparity immediately, promising an investigation by the Department of Commerce.
I doubt he'll find anything untoward, but it seems very bad PR for gasoline distributors and the Utah refineries not to make public statements explaining the high prices.

gas prices are deffinitely rediculous right now..and i dont see our president doing anything to help us out..I think he needs to concentrate more on our country and less on whatever he is doing now..if he cant get the job done, then he needs to be replaced..im tired of paying so much for gas and its killing me along with millions of other people here..we feel like we can't even drive to the store anymore because of gas prices..why are they so high anyway???there should be a gas law stating that gas cannot exceed around 2.00 - 2.25 a gallon no matter what..i think this whole thing is a scam and the scammers should be caught and locked up for this..whoever is suppose to watch over gas budgets needs to read this and go and do something about it to help out the middle and lower class people of the U.S. and around the world..If we run out of gas for the world then we will have to go to an alternative source..i mean we haven't run out yet..This is really hurting people that have to use gas to travel and to work with..Please someone take what I have pleaded and spread the word around until something is done to please the people , taxpayers and gas buyers of the U.S. Thank you
